We are so proud of Kate for her induction into the National Honor Society today. God has blessed us beyond comprehension with our two wonderful daughters. Revisiting the spot where she said “Yes” 25 years ago today. Forever grateful that she did, because I can’t imagine my life without her. Winter break for Kate, so squeezing in a couple of college visits. Toady we had a wonderful visit to UT Martin, and Olivia, Sara, and I closed it out with some decadent milkshakes at The Grind while Kate was at the Skyhawk Church of Christ Student Center for a devotional and dinner. NYC Day 5 – Our last day started with a light breakfast at Zaro’s in Grand Central Station. We then explored the main branch of the New York Public Library on 5th. Next we took the subway up to the 72nd street entrance into Central Park where we spent an hour or so walking around and visiting Strawberry Fields and riding the carousel. We exited the park at 59th and walked down 5th. Along the way we had lunch at my favorite NY pizza place, Pronto Pizza on 48th. Finally we made one more stop at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree before heading back to Grand Central and taking a cab to the airport. It was a magical “Mystery Vacation” for our family. We crammed a lot into five days, and it was a blast. My heart is full, my wallet is empty, and my body is exhausted. NYC Day 4 (Part 2) – After dinner, we had one last surprise left for the girls…Billy Joel at Madison…Square…Garden! This has been on my bucket list for a LONG time and the show was epic! So much fun. After the show we headed back to midtown for cheesecake at Junior’s before calling it a night (or early morning ). Wonderful, wonderful day in NYC. NYC Day 4 (Part 1) – Too many things today for just one post. We started out with pancakes again at Pershing Square and then headed downtown to see the 9/11 memorial and go to the observation deck of One World Trade Center (visibility was great today). Next we visited the Oculus at WTC and then I showed the girls the two buildings I used to work at. These included One Liberty Plaza and the New York Stock Exchange. We also went to see the grave of Alexander Hamilton at Trinity Church on Wall St. We took a quick stroll through Battery Park and then headed back to Midtown for a porterhouse at Gallagher’s on 52nd…to be continued. Day 3 in NYC – Started with a yummy breakfast at Morning Star Cafe on 2nd, then had a family worship service back at the hotel. Next we went to see a matinee performance of Wicked at the Gershwin on 51st. After the show we headed down to Little Italy for dinner at Casa Bella before heading to Greenwich Village to see the Christmas tree and Washington Arch in Washington Square Park. We then headed back up to 34th to see the decorations and window displays at Macy’s. Finally we headed over to the East Village for cheesecake at Veniero Pasticceria on 11th. Another packed but awesome day! Day 2 in NYC – Started with pancakes at Pershing Square on 42nd (no. 1 on my favorite pancakes list, and yes I do have a list). Next we spent a few hours at the Met and then grabbed some pizza on the Upper East Side. We then went to see Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic on 44th (first time for the girls) and again had cheesecake at Junior’s. Finally we went back to Rockefeller Center to the tree and then to look at the window displays at Saks. Full, fun day! The Mystery is Revealed! NYC – My favorite city! We really wanted the girls to be able to experience New York at Christmas. After arriving at our hotel on 42nd around 8:00pm, we took the subway down to Little Italy for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. We then took the subway up to Times Square for cheesecake at Juniors. Finally we made it to Rockefeller Center literally seconds before they turned off the big tree at midnight (didn’t even get a pic). Love, love, love this place.
