Hand Update – Feb 11, 2020

Still got a ways to go but today I got out of the splint and was given the ok to do some light running. Having some problems related to a nerve complication on the back of my hand so would appreciate continued prayers. #surgery #recovery #prayer

Still got a ways to go but today I got out of the splint and was given the ok to do some light running. Having some problems related to a nerve complication on the back of my hand so would appreciate continued prayers.

May not look much better but this is a huge step in my recovery from surgery. For the past week I’ve had no use of my left hand and had to keep it elevated above my heart 24×7. Now I get a lighter splint and use of my thumb and index finger. X-Rays and incisions looked good and I get my stitches out on Friday. Can start running again in a couple of weeks as long as my wounds continue to heal. #surgery

Quick update … The surgeon said that everything went well yesterday. It took four screws to repair the bones and the ligament. I’m not sure what the pain will be like because the nerve block in my left arm has still not completely worn off. Thanks to everyone for all the prayers. I really appreciate them.

While I was in Israel I took a bad spill in the archaeological remains of the palace of Herod Agrippa II. I knew at the time that I dislocated a finger but found out today that I also fractured my hand in two places and tore a ligament. Will have surgery next Wednesday. #travel #israel
