Olivia’s surgery is complete, and the surgeon just gave me GREAT news!!
The MRI had seemed to indicate a torn rotator cuff that would need repair, which would have meant 4 weeks in a sling, 6 weeks with a 5lb lifting limit, and 6 more weeks with a 10lb lifting limit.
Well, what he saw on the MRI turned out to be thickened tissue causing inflammation in the rotator cuff. He removed tissue and found there was no tear on the cuff itself. This means that no repair was needed and there will be no mandated recovery restrictions.
With the tissue cleaned out she should slowly regain full use of her arm and shoulder again. She will be very sore for a while, but only has to wear sling as needed for comfort.
