The last couple of weeks have been crazy, so my running updates have been few and far between. I finished my 10-week “Return to Running” program last Saturday, and am now free to make out my own schedule toward NYC this fall. Last week I tried running the red trail at Percy Warner Park for the first time since the injury, and it absolutely kicked my tail. Even though I’ve been consistently doing leg workouts, I realize that I still need a LOT of work running hills to build up my strength. Also last week I had my longest run since the return by completing 10.5-miles with the group on Saturday. Here are my totals for the last two weeks:
Today I started week 11 of my NYC training, running through various neighborhoods in West Lansing, Michigan. After several weeks of nasty, nasty heat and humidity in Middle Tennessee, it was quite a thrill to see this on my phone just before my run:
With the extremely mild conditions, I was able to crank out just under 7.5-miles with an average pace around 8-min per mile. I was even able to take the last 3 under 8:00, and it felt really good. I’m still having some issues with my achilles, but overall my legs felt great this morning.
Beast Mode….ON!
